AI Interview Copilot Comparison: How to Pick One

Seven interview copilots compared on what they know about you, coding help, screen sharing and billing, with a 30-minute test to run before you pay.

There is no single best AI interview copilot. The right one depends on three things: what kind of rounds you face (behavioral, coding, or both), how the tool learns about you, and how it bills. If your loop is mostly behavioral, pick a tool that answers from your own stories, not a generic template. If it is coding-heavy, screen capture matters more than anything else. If your search will last a few weeks, the billing model (monthly, annual, credits or lifetime) can change the cost more than the headline price. Whatever you pick, run the 30-minute test near the end of this page before a real interview.

Prices change often in this category. Treat the last column as a snapshot and open each pricing page before you pay.

Five things that actually separate them

1. When it answers. Most of these tools now listen and answer on their own. Final Round AI says it detects behavioral, coding, system design and case questions "without mode switching". LockedIn AI says it auto-detects when you join a call. Parakeet AI has an Auto Answer toggle and a manual Answer button. Verve AI waits for a pause you set before it answers, and Manual Mode makes it answer only when you ask. That setting matters more than it sounds: the docs list the pause interval as the control for a copilot that responds too quickly or too slowly, so test it with an interviewer who pauses mid-question.

2. What it knows about you. This is where answer quality is decided for behavioral rounds. A copilot that only has your resume has less to draw on than one you have given your own stories, so check which details it actually uses. Verve AI's Knowledge Base takes PDFs, Word files, slides and plain text up to 3.5 MB each, plus STAR entries you write directly, and answers draw on the documents you have switched on. Sensei AI tailors answers to your resume and personal stories. Final Round AI groups your role, resume and materials into a "Goal" per job.

3. Coding and screen help. For coding rounds, the copilot has to read the problem, not just hear it. Verve AI's desktop app captures a selected area (Cmd+Shift+S on Mac, Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows) or the full screen (Cmd+Shift+C, Ctrl+Shift+C) with a hotkey, can queue several captures before one solve, and has follow-up buttons such as Optimize, Edge Case, Simplify and Complexity. Final Round AI auto-captures the screen and also solves on demand. Parakeet AI says it reads code shared on your screen. Interview Coder's site leads with LeetCode-style and system design interviews, and also lists behavioral and other categories.

4. How it bills. The headline price hides the real cost of a job search. Three examples from the listed prices:

• Sensei AI at $24 a month billed annually is about $288 up front. If you expect to be done in six weeks, two months at $89 is $178.
• Parakeet AI charges 0.5 credit per 30-minute call. The 15-credit pack ($177) covers 30 half-hour calls, about $5.90 each; a single credit at $38 covers two.
• Interview Coder's $799 lifetime option only beats $299 a month if you would otherwise pay for three months or more.

Count your expected rounds, multiply by their length, and compare that against each plan's session or credit limits.

5. Languages. If your interview is not in English, check the exact language, not the headline count. Verve AI supports 38 interview languages, and its answers follow the interview language you select. Sensei AI lists 30+. Parakeet AI lists 50+ but listens for one language at a time, so you change the setting if the call switches. Final Round AI lists 143 "languages & accents". LockedIn AI's homepage gives three different counts (42, 50+ and 99+), so ask before you rely on it.

Screen sharing and stealth claims

Every tool here except the base Cluely plans says it stays off a shared screen, and several use absolute language for it. Read those claims as marketing until you have tested your own setup.

Here is what Verve AI's documentation actually says. Stealth Mode exists only in the desktop app, not the browser or mobile versions. It is designed to keep Verve AI off the shared screen when you share a window or a tab on any meeting platform, and when you share your entire screen from the Zoom or Teams desktop apps. Sharing your entire screen from a meeting that runs in a browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave or Opera) may show it, so share a window or tab instead, or use a second monitor. The app shows "Stealth Mode: Active" when it is on, and the docs ask you to confirm with a screen recording or a test call before the interview. Stealth Mode only covers screen sharing, so check what your employer or test platform allows before you rely on any copilot.

Cluely is the clearest case of reading the plan sheet carefully: hiding from screen sharing is only in its $149.99 "Pro + Undetectability" tier, not in the $19.99 Pro plan.

Which one fits you

• Mostly behavioral rounds, and you have real stories to tell: pick a tool that takes your stories as input. Verve AI (Knowledge Base with STAR entries) and Sensei AI (resume and personal stories) are built for this. Spend your setup time writing five or six stories properly; it shows in the answers.
• Coding-heavy loops: prioritise screen capture and follow-up actions. Verve AI's Coding Copilot and Final Round AI both capture from the screen. Interview Coder targets this case too, at a much higher monthly price.
• A short search on a budget: use free tiers to test before paying. Sensei AI's free plan gives 15-minute sessions; Parakeet AI offers a 10-minute free session; Final Round AI's free plan covers prep only, with no free trial of live sessions.
• You want a human helper, not just AI: LockedIn AI's Duo feature lets another person see your screen, hear the call and send you suggestions.
• Work meetings rather than interviews: Cluely presents itself as a meeting assistant and does not mention interviews on its pricing page.

Where Verve AI falls short

Since I work there, here are the limits I would want to know as a buyer:

• Stealth Mode needs the desktop app. The browser version has no Stealth Mode, no transparent overlay and no capture hotkeys.
• Browser coding help is Chrome only. In the browser, the Coding Copilot runs through a Chrome extension; Edge and Opera work for general interviews but not for coding.
• Transcription can miss things. When it does, you can type the question into the Chatbot tab or add a screenshot, which takes extra effort during a live answer.
• Answers are only as good as your setup. The Knowledge Base helps only if you fill it, and scanned or image-only PDFs cannot be indexed until you run OCR on them.
• Sessions are capped by plan. How many sessions you get and how long each lasts depend on the plan; check the pricing page against your interview schedule.

The 30-minute test to run before a real interview

Do this with whichever tool you shortlist, ideally with a friend playing the interviewer on the same meeting app your interview will use.

1. Load three real stories (a conflict, a failure, a project you led) into the tool's profile or knowledge area.
2. Ask a question that matches one story. Check whether the suggestion uses your details or a generic version of them.
3. Ask a question that matches none. A good tool still gives you something structured; a weak one invents experience you do not have. Note which it does.
4. Pause in the middle of a question. See whether the tool answers too early, and adjust its timing setting.
5. Share your screen exactly as you will on the day (window or full screen, desktop app or browser meeting) and record it. Watch the recording.
6. Put a coding problem on screen with its constraints and examples visible, capture it, and ask for one follow-up such as edge cases.
7. Check what the test cost you in sessions, minutes or credits, and work out whether your plan covers every round you have booked.

If a tool fails step 3 or step 5, it does not matter how it scored anywhere else.

A note on "satisfaction ratings"

People search for satisfaction ratings for these tools, and you will find tables of them. Be careful with any rating that does not say who was surveyed and how. Vendor homepages can show their own review scores: LockedIn AI's, for example, shows a 4.8 from 2,739 reviews next to a 4.1 on Trustpilot, and the page does not say how the first number was collected. Your own 30-minute test tells you more than either.
