Genpact Interview Process: Tests, Video Interviews and Prep

Genpact interview process: what Genpact states about online tests, proctoring, recorded video interviews and background checks.

People looking up the "Genpact interview process" usually want a list of rounds, and they are often surprised to find that Genpact's careers site does not have one. The company hires in more than 30 countries for operations, technology, analytics and consulting work, and the stages a candidate meets depend on the role, the client it serves and the local law.

We wrote this for candidates at any level who have applied to Genpact, or intend to, and want to know what the company commits to in writing. It covers how to apply through the official portal, the online tests Genpact says it may use and how it proctors them, how its interviews are conducted and recorded, its use of AI in screening, the checks that follow a shortlist, and how to prepare. We make Verve AI, an interview copilot, and what we say about Genpact comes from its own careers pages and candidate privacy notice as they stood in October 2026.

The useful surprise is that Genpact's privacy notice for candidates says more about its hiring methods than its careers pages do. It describes cognitive and language tests, proctoring by snapshot or video, recorded and on-demand interviews, and background checks, although it gives no round counts, test formats or pay.

Who is this guide for, and why does the process vary?

Genpact says it has over 140,000 employees across more than 30 countries, with roles in data, technology, AI services and digital operations. Students and recent graduates enter through campus programs, which Genpact presents separately for India, North America, Europe, Australia and the Philippines. In India the campus page lists the NEXTGEN Campus Graduate Program, the NEXTGEN Analytics Program, the NEXTGEN Digital Program and the NEXTGEN Internship Program.

Experienced candidates apply to individual postings, and each posting sets its own requirements. An analyst posting in Gurgaon that we read listed the qualifications, certifications and required skills for the role, along with a language proficiency level.

Genpact's privacy notice also explains a second source of variation. Several steps are carried out only as permitted by local law, and some checks depend on the client you would be assigned to.

How do you apply, and what does Genpact say about fake job offers?

Applications go through the job search on Genpact's careers page, which opens its external careers portal hosted on Workday. Genpact's Experience team is the exception, since it takes applications through its own listing page. That page says a member of the Genpact recruiting team will reach out by email to schedule a video interview if your profile is a match.

Genpact's fraud warning is short, and it appears on the careers home page: it never requires applicants to pay to be part of its hiring process. Its job postings repeat the point in more detail, with these specifics.

  • Genpact does not charge fees to process job applications.
  • Applicants are not required to pay to participate in the hiring process in any other way.
  • The examples of scams it gives are purchasing a starter kit, paying to apply, and purchasing equipment or training.
  • The Experience team page adds that Genpact does not recruit through text messaging, WhatsApp or any unofficial platforms.

What tests does Genpact use, and how are they proctored?

Genpact's privacy notice for employment candidates says it may ask you to take tests that are necessary for assessing your suitability for a position. It names two kinds, which are online aptitude tests of cognitive ability and language assessments.

Genpact says the tests have been calibrated and benchmarked by a team of experts to support accuracy and fairness. It also says it will send detailed information on each type of assessment in the email invitation before you take the test. Our article on types of online assessment test explains how cognitive tests are usually built, but the invitation is the only place Genpact's format is given, because the notice does not state the number of questions, the time limit, the test provider or the score required.

The notice is specific about proctoring, and it says that when an online assessment is taken without supervision, Genpact may take snapshots or video recordings of you during the test to prevent and identify fraud. An AI algorithm identifies potential fraud in those images and highlights it to the responsible recruiter, who reviews it manually before reaching a decision. Genpact says no biometric data is collected, and that it will inform you in detail of any proctoring before an assessment.

How are interviews in the Genpact interview process conducted?

Genpact does not publish a number or sequence of rounds, and it does not label them as technical, operations or HR interviews. What it documents is how interviews are held.

The privacy notice refers to telephone interviews and video-enabled interviews, and to face-to-face interviews for which Genpact may arrange travel. It says Genpact may keep audio or video records of an interview together with the comments noted by interviewers, and that it will always inform you before any recording is made.

The notice also describes a third format, in which interviews are carried out without the real-time presence of recruiters, through digital platforms that let candidates choose when to take the interview. These are recorded by design, and our article on how AI-led interviews work explains what to expect from an interview with no live interviewer.

For a live video interview, the invitation names the platform. Our setup guides for Microsoft Teams and for Zoom cover the two most common ones.

Does Genpact use AI to screen candidates?

Genpact says it may use AI in certain stages of recruitment. The purposes it gives are assisting with the initial selection of suitable candidates, increasing objectivity and fairness, and helping recruiters manage selection, for example by highlighting resumes that match a job description.

It then gives a firm assurance in the same passage: "AI will not take any automatic decisions regarding your application." Human recruiters and hiring managers make the decision.

The pages we read do not set out a rule on candidates using AI tools during tests or interviews. What they do establish is that unsupervised tests are proctored for fraud and that interviews may be recorded with notice, so the instructions in each invitation are the rules that apply to you.

What does Genpact say it looks for?

Genpact's job postings describe its culture as built on courage, curiosity and incisiveness, on a foundation of integrity and inclusion. Its careers pages describe the people it wants as problem solvers who question how things are done and look for a better way.

For a specific role, the posting is more concrete than the culture pages. The required skills, qualifications and language level listed there are the criteria your interviewers have in front of them.

What happens after you are shortlisted?

Genpact's privacy notice describes several steps that follow a shortlist. It may collect a copy of your government ID, your compensation expectations, and passport or work permit information where relevant. It may also obtain background check reports covering education, employment and criminal records, to the extent permitted under applicable law.

After you accept an offer and before onboarding, Genpact may share your data with the client you would serve, as part of background checks required by the client agreement. For people joining in India, Genpact publishes a page of mandatory onboarding documents that covers activating a Universal Account Number and updating KYC details.

Genpact does not publish how long these steps take, and it does not state salary ranges on the pages we read.

How should you prepare for a Genpact interview?

Preparation for the Genpact interview process follows from the company's own statements.

  1. Read the posting closely and prepare evidence for each required skill and qualification it lists.
  2. Read the assessment invitation in full, since Genpact says it carries the test details and any proctoring notice.
  3. Practise speaking clearly in the language the role requires, because language assessments are one of the two test types Genpact names.
  4. Prepare examples that show curiosity and a willingness to question how a process works.
  5. Prepare for a recorded format by practising timed answers aloud without a live listener.

How can Verve AI help with a Genpact interview?

Rehearsal matters most when the format is not announced in advance. Verve AI's mock interviews are spoken sessions with an AI interviewer, built from question banks, your own questions or the Genpact job description, and each ends with a report. The question bank holds more than 5,000 real interview questions.

For interviews held by video or phone, Verve AI is a real-time copilot that offers three ways to get help within one shared conversation context. It answers automatically from the live audio, it has a chatbot for typed questions, and a hotkey captures part of the screen. It keeps the context of the whole conversation, so follow-up questions are answered in light of earlier questions and your own answers. Its suggestions are built from your resume and your STAR stories, and they are prompts for answers given in your own words. Analytics candidates can read more on the data analyst interview copilot page.

Follow the rules Genpact states in your test and interview invitations, including its proctoring and recording notices. You can start on Verve AI's free plan to practise with mock interviews before your first Genpact call.
