Verve AI vs Sensei AI: Stealth, Follow-Up Questions, Reliability and Price Compared (2026)

Verve AI vs Sensei AI: a desktop app with Stealth Mode versus a browser tab. Follow-up questions, reliability, refunds and price compared.

People who compare Verve AI vs Sensei AI have usually found two tools that promise the same thing, which is an answer on the screen a moment after the interviewer stops talking. What they want to know before trusting either one is more specific: whether the interviewer could notice it, whether it keeps up when the conversation changes direction, and what happens if it stops working in the middle of a call.

We wrote this for job seekers who are deciding between the two and want those questions answered side by side. It explains how each product is built, summarizes what Sensei AI's customers complain about, and then takes the common concerns about interview copilots one at a time, with price near the end. We make Verve AI, so weigh our view accordingly; what we say about Sensei AI comes from its own website, policies and tutorials and from public reviews as they stood in October 2026.

How are Verve AI and Sensei AI built?

Both are real-time interview copilots that listen to the interviewer, detect questions automatically and suggest answers shaped by your resume and the job description. The difference that affects almost everything else is where each one runs.

Sensei AI is a web app that runs in Chrome, with a Chrome extension for coding interviews, and its site does not offer a desktop or mobile app. To hear the interviewer, it asks you to join the meeting in a browser tab and share that tab with Sensei, so its Zoom instructions tell you to decline the Zoom app and join from the browser.

Verve AI has a desktop app for Mac and Windows as well as a browser version and an iPhone app. The desktop app listens to your computer's audio directly, so you can take the interview in the Zoom or Teams app your interviewer expects, and it is the version that includes Stealth Mode.

What do people complain about with Sensei AI?

Sensei AI has very few public reviews, which makes it hard to judge from the outside. Its Trustpilot profile is unclaimed and held only a handful of reviews when we checked, all of them negative, and the reviews of its Chrome extension are mixed.

The complaints fall into a small number of themes. The most common are billing and refund disputes, including duplicate charges and refunds that reviewers say were promised and did not arrive. Next comes support that did not reply, followed by reports of the tool crashing or malfunctioning during a live interview. The positive comments that exist praise the step-by-step explanations in its coding copilot.

A sample that small cannot tell you how the product performs for most people, so the sections below rely mainly on what Sensei AI's own pages say.

Will the interviewer see it when you share your screen?

This is the concern candidates raise most, and it is where the two designs differ the most.

Sensei AI's site says it is undetectable by interviewers and that video conferencing tools cannot detect it. What it does not say is that its window is hidden when you share your own screen, and because it runs as a browser tab, an interviewer who asks you to share your whole screen is looking at the same display the tab is on. One of its own tutorials also notes that the tab-sharing step can show a notification banner that might alert the interviewer, and the fix it describes, an audio listener in the Chrome extension, is in beta and limited to paying members.

The Verve AI desktop app runs outside the screen-share layer at the operating-system level, so the interviewer does not see it. Our documentation states where that is guaranteed, which is window and tab sharing on any platform and full-screen sharing in the Zoom and Microsoft Teams desktop apps, and the app shows a "Stealth Mode: Active" indicator before you join. Stealth Mode is part of the free plan too, and our guide to testing interview copilot stealth mode shows how to confirm it on your own computer.

Will it catch the question and answer in time?

Both products answer without being asked, and Sensei AI describes a hands-free experience in which an answer appears when the interviewer finishes a question, and it advertises latency of under a second. Its site does not describe any way to change that behavior during a session.

Verve AI lets you choose how the copilot responds. Auto answers every line, Manual waits for you, and Smart Listening holds a question that is still being asked and skips small talk, so that a long, two-part question gets one complete answer. Its transcription was upgraded this year to be more accurate with technical terms and accents, and a keyboard shortcut makes an answer shorter or longer while you are speaking. You also have three ways to get help in a session, which are automatic answers from the audio, a built-in chatbot for typed questions, and a hotkey that captures part of your screen.

Will it keep up with follow-up questions?

An interview is a conversation, and the hard questions are usually the second and third ones on a topic: why you made a decision, what you would do differently, how the answer changes at ten times the scale. A copilot that treats each of those as a new question produces answers that do not match what you said a minute earlier.

This is the area where Verve AI is strongest. It carries the context of the entire conversation, so each follow-up is answered with the earlier questions and your own answers in view. The audio, the chatbot and the screen capture all feed that one context, which means a typed question or a captured screen changes what the copilot says next.

Coding rounds make the benefit concrete, because after you capture a problem and receive a solution, the interviewer's spoken questions about its complexity, its edge cases or an alternative approach are answered about that same code, and there is nothing to capture or explain a second time.

Sensei AI's site does not describe how it handles follow-up questions or whether it remembers earlier parts of the conversation. Its live screen shows the transcript and the answers, its screen capture is part of the coding copilot on the paid plan, and its text chat is a separate tool outside the interview session.

Will the answers sound like you?

Sensei AI builds answers from a resume uploaded as a PDF, the job description and a library of personal stories, and its paid plan adds controls for tone and style along with knowledge bases for interview tracks such as software engineering, finance and product management. Its site does not say which AI models it uses.

Verve AI starts from your resume and the job description, accepts other documents you upload, and uses your stories in STAR format in full when a behavioral question calls for one. You can choose the AI model for a session, and Pro adds our reasoning models and knowledge banks for 20 interview domains, so that answers use the vocabulary of your field.

Will it hold up for the whole interview?

Sensei AI's setup has several steps that have to go right: the meeting has to run in the browser, the correct tab has to be shared with audio, and its app warns that sharing a window or the entire screen may not capture audio properly. Free sessions also end after 15 minutes and have to be restarted, which is worth knowing before you rely on the free plan for a full interview.

Verve AI's desktop app works with the meeting app you already use, and it has been hardened against the common failure cases. Transcription reconnects by itself after a brief network drop and tells you when it has, and an answer you are reading stays where it is when a new one arrives.

What if something goes wrong?

Sensei AI's pages disagree with each other about refunds. The FAQ on its home page says it does not offer refunds, while its refund policy page describes a partial refund on annual plans requested within three days of a renewal and refunds on monthly plans only in special circumstances. Support is by email and a Discord community, and unanswered support requests are a theme in its reviews.

Verve AI's paid plans include email support and an in-app chat that goes directly to our support team. Our refund policy covers a technical problem on our side that stopped you using the product, or a subscription that was never used.

How do the prices compare?

Prices are from Sensei AI's website and our pricing page.

Sensei AI has one paid plan, PRO, at $89 a month or $24 a month billed annually, and it includes unlimited sessions, the coding copilot and the knowledge bases. Verve AI Pro is $84.99 a month or $34.99 a month billed annually, and it includes unlimited sessions, the desktop app with Stealth Mode, the coding copilot and our reasoning models. Verve AI also has a Standard plan at $44.99 a month for people preparing for a single company.

On the free plans, Sensei AI gives unlimited sessions of 15 minutes on its general interview track, without the coding copilot. Verve AI gives three live sessions of 15 minutes, five mock interviews and Stealth Mode, with no card required. Our comparison of interview copilot free trials covers six other tools as well.

Verve AI vs Sensei AI: which one should you choose?

The Verve AI vs Sensei AI decision depends mostly on how your interviews are run. If they take place in a browser, you will not be asked to share your screen, and the lowest annual price matters most, Sensei AI's PRO plan is the less expensive of the two over a year.

If you may be asked to share your screen, if your interviews run in the Zoom or Teams desktop app, or if you expect technical rounds with a chain of follow-up questions, Verve AI is designed for those situations. It stays out of the shared screen, follows the conversation from one question to the next, and gives you a support team you can reach.
